Believe it or not, this fish isn’t actually straight out of the Little Mermaid.
Alas, it’s just a normal fish – except that it has
a human face.
The rare carp has distinct markings that make it look a bit like a person – and Qiu Xiaohua, who caught the fish in Wugang City in China, is hoping the fish will bring home the bacon.
Just for context, in 2010 a similar-looking fish was valued at £40,000.
Pic shows: The humanoid carp.nnA fish with a body resembling the form of a human face has gone viral recently after it was captured by one lucky fisherman.nnThe owner of the "humanoid" carp ¿ an auspicious fish in Chinese culture ¿ is now attracting visitors in their dozens to his village home.nnQiu Xiaohua, the man who caught the fish in Wugang City, in Central China¿s Hunan Province, said he has been fishing for nearly 20 years, and that he had never seen a fish like this before.nnPictures of the dark brown carp show that it has markings on its body which together with the fish¿s own orifices, make it look eerily like the face of a person, with ears, eyes, and even a mouth.nnIt is 36 centimetres (14.17 inches) long and weighs 800 grams (1.76 lbs) ¿ it also like an ordinary carp in every other way besides its now bizarre colours.nnQiu, who works as an elementary school teacher, was planning to eat the fish before discovering its unique pattern, and is now keeping it alive in his home.nnDozens of curious visitors from his neighbourhood have come to see the humanoid fish, and photos of the animal have also gone viral on social media.nnIt is apparently very rare for a fish to form markings like the ones on Qiu¿s carp, and in 2010 a man in the United Kingdom reportedly found a similar "humanoid" carp, which was later valued at around 40,000 GBP.nnQiu is hoping that his special catch can fetch him a similar price ¿ or maybe even higher ¿ from Chinese collectors, who are know for paying big bucks for unique and rare animals and plants.nn(ends)

Xiaohua, a school teacher, was originally planning to eat the carp. However, he decided to keep it alive in his sink after he noticed that it had a human face.
Since then dozens of visitors have popped over to admire the fish.
